by Josh Woodard, Enabling tech for social impact in frontier/emerging markets
Digital technology can be instrumental to development and humanitarian efforts, but how do you decide whether technology might be relevant to your specific challenge?
Family Health International (FHI 360) is widely known for its work in improving health and well-being worldwide. With support from the Rockefeller Foundation, FHI 360 has developed an Excel-based planning and due diligence tool to help decide on what technology to use, and when to use it. This can help resilience practitioners decide how to incorporate digital technology into their programs. It can also offer a framework for conducting basic due diligence on technology providers already identified as potential partners.
Participants received an introduction to the Excel tool and to best practices for ensuring that technology-based social impact initiatives are conducted in ways that are appropriate, effective, and sustainable.
