On February 5, the Sasin Japan Center and Yuasa Trading co-hosted a seminar at BITEC, exploring how business can address social challenges in Thailand. The Sasin Japan Center, a division of Sasin Management Consulting led by Associate Professor Chaipong Pongpanich, Ph.D., fosters business collaboration between Japan and Thailand.
The event opened with remarks from Mr. Hiroyuki Tamura, President and CEO of Yuasa Trading, followed by a keynote lecture from Professor Takamasa Fujioka, Ph.D., Advisor to Sasin Japan Center and Associate Dean of Meiji Professional Graduate School. Other speakers included Associate Professor Nuttapol Assarut, Ph.D., from Chulalongkorn Business School, Mr. Masato Kinoshita, Senior Specialist at JICA Thailand, and Mr. Hiroshi Takahashi from Yuasa Trading.
Professor Fujioka spoke on corporate social responsibility, emphasizing Japanese ethics and business philosophy. He concluded with a powerful message:
“Creating value for society by connecting society and the economy, public and private, and people and people.”
The seminar attracted 80 participants, including executives from Mitsubishi Corporation, Hitachi, Bridgestone, Ayudhya Bank, Taisei Corporation, Recruit, Sanyo Trading, Shinki Bus, Saha Tokyu, Zeroboard, and more.
This event was part of the Yuasa Grand Fair in Thailand 2025 at BITEC. Yuasa Trading, a Japanese company with over 350 years of history and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, is launching a full-scale expansion in Thailand. As a first step, it organized this large-scale exhibition featuring over 200 Japanese companies and drawing more than 5,000 visitors over three days. While Yuasa Trading has hosted this event in Japan, this marks its first overseas edition.
Before the seminar, Professor Fujioka joined Japanese Ambassador Masato Otaka and other distinguished guests for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. He has been supporting Yuasa Trading in organizing this event since last year.
