Mr. Paron Israsena Na Ayudhya, current Board Chairman at Thaicom Public Co., Ltd. and former CEO of Siam Cement Group (SCG), has been named Director of Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University, effective 1 June 2017. He replaces Professor Dipak C. Jain, Ph.D.
Mr. Paron had a long and distinguished business career before joining Siam Cement Group. He has been on several Boards of Directors, including that of Sasin’s parent organization, Chulalongkorn University. He has worked with a number of Thailand’s leading corporations, including The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), The Thailand’s Private Sector Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) Council, The National Competitiveness Development Committee, Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd. (C.P.), and Siam Kubota Corporation Co., Ltd. His academic credentials include undergraduate and graduate degrees from Chulalongkorn and a graduate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Sasin’s faculty and staff members, students, and alumni are of one voice in their enthusiastic support for the Director and his promise to keep Sasin “at the forefront of graduate management study in Asia Pacific, and among the leading international institutions of management education.”
Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University offers degree and non-degree programs in business administration, management, marketing, and other business functions. It was established in 1982 as a collaborative effort among Chulalongkorn University, the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, and the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.
Today, Sasin works in partnership with leading institutions around the world. It is the first institution in Thailand to have earned both AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditations. These qualifications recognize Sasin’s leading role among business schools in Thailand and in Asia.
As Director Paron points out, Sasin was founded more than three decades ago “as a graduate school determined to optimize student capabilities and learning opportunities, encouraging the exchange of management knowledge while embracing Asian culture and ideas.” Director Paron adds, “Since then, Sasin has regularly adapted its curriculum to keep pace with the changing demands of Thailand’s business sector, and to benefit society as a whole.”
Director Paron concludes, “Having served on Sasin’s Advisory Board and Steering Committee for many years, I have developed an understanding of — and a pride in — Sasin’s achievements: its strengths, and the challenges we face. These are not easy times for any business endeavor, and education is no exception. The pace of change is accelerating and the level of competition in management education is surging. Sasin must innovate to continue among the leaders in business education.”
