Sasin unveiled its AI Corner, a dedicated IT workstation on the second floor featuring the latest generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT Plus and Gemini Advanced, on June 25. Gemini Advanced includes updated features like adjusting images, creating designs, and generating songs and videos.
Generative AI is artificial intelligence that employs machine learning algorithms to create new and original content, including images, videos, text, and audio.
“AI is an integral part of everything we do. We need to understand how to use it, not be afraid of it, and become familiar with its different varieties,” said Professor Ian Fenwick, Director of Sasin, at the opening of Sasin’s AI Corner.
Dr. Pinnaree (Pin Pin) Tea-makorn, Sasin’s AI Strategist and founding member of Sasin’s Data Analytics Center (DAC), shared tips on utilizing AI tools. She advised, “You should use AI for tasks that are hard to generate but easy to validate. Do not use AI for tasks that are not easy to validate or you’re unsure of its accuracy.”
Additionally, Dr. Pinnaree highlighted several considerations for AI usage: quality assurance and evaluation, legal and governance issues, transparency and accountability of employees, competition with repeated content, diminished critical thinking skills, and the risk of unconsciously revealing secrets. She specifically warned users against disclosing confidential information to ChatGPT.
Besides ChatGPT, the opening of Sasin’s AI Corner introduced Sasin’s personnel to several new AI tools and technologies, including Adobe Sensei, Quillbot, Synthesia, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and Perplexity.
