SMC Takes Important Role in Driving Thailand’s MICE and Festival Industries Forward

Sasin Management Consulting (SMC) continues to play a proactive role in transforming Thailand’s MICE and festival industries. By engaging key stakeholders across the entire ecosystem, SMC has facilitated discussions and collaborations to identify critical challenges and strategic opportunities. This commitment was demonstrated in the focus group held on November 8, 2024, where key stakeholders from the MICE and festival industries discussed key issues, suggested initiatives, and voiced policy considerations for government support. Additionally, SMC participated in the Thailand Soft Power Development Committee conference, Elevate Thai Festivals on the Global Stage, on January 27, 2025, where discussions focused on enhancing Thailand’s soft power and developing a comprehensive roadmap for positioning Thai festivals on the global stage. On February 27, 2025, SMC, led by Associate Professor Dr. Chaipong Pongpanich, Director of SMC, and Thana Siriwallop, Project Director, continued its engagement with key industry leaders at the Bancha Lamsam Suite, Sasin School of Management. Attendees included representatives from the National Soft Power Development Committee, Strategic Transformation Office (STO), Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), and major stakeholders from the MICE and festival industries. The discussions focused on strengthening these industries through comprehensive strategies, addressing regulatory challenges, and fostering stronger collaboration between public and private entities. A key topic of discussion was the development of incentive measures for the MICE and festival industries, aimed at fostering growth through government support and policy frameworks. Additionally, the discussion addressed a national concern—the financial outflow from Thailand during major events organized by Thai organizers. To mitigate this, urgent policy measures are needed to retain economic benefits within the country, enhancing Thailand’s competitive advantage and global positioning. SMC remains committed to working closely with policymakers to craft effective and sustainable solutions that will enhance Thailand’s competitiveness. By aligning stakeholder efforts and implementing strategic interventions, SMC aims to create long-term, high-impact solutions for Thailand’s MICE and festival industries on the global stage.
