The Town of Avon is a municipality located in the High Rockies just west of Vail, and at the foot of Beaver Creek Resort. Avon has over 6000 year-round residents, with seasonal spikes to 10,000 residents. The Town employs 90+ full-time employees and another 60+ part-time and seasonal employees.

- Vice President, Office of Innovation – Detroit, January 2012 to October 2014 Responsible for building communities of innovation inside and outside of the company; leading innovation projects, and evangelizing Human Resources innovations.
- Continued to work as a Brand Ambassador and a respected thought leader, representing Kelly at a variety of professional conferences and symposia.
- Co-authored Gen Now, a book focused on the multi-generational workforce, its’ impact on business, and actionable solutions; the book is available on Amazon (release date, September 2013).
- Co-authored Don’t Manage Me, #understandme, a book on understanding and managing Gen Y employees (release date August 2012).

The International Division employed over 4000 employees in 700+ locations and generated over $2.0bn in revenues in 31 countries outside the US. Top International HR executive, reporting directly to the corporate SVP/CHRO and the SVP/GM, International. Delivered strategic direction for the corporate HR team and 80+ HR professionals in 31 countries across EMEA, APAC and the Americas. Simultaneously, contributed on a tactical level through direct involvement in field operations, including regular Field HR Reviews. [Field HR provides support and HR services to country P&L businesses, and directly and indirectly to 50,000+ employees worldwide.]
- Reversed the perceived disengagement of HR from the business, built HR structures, upgraded HR talent, and brought HR into the midst of the division’s strategy and growth mechanisms.
- Personally managed HR components of Greenfield country launches and M&A due diligence/integration planning in Hungary, Poland, Turkey, China, and Japan.
- Developed and implemented a Global Mobility function within IHR to address growing customer requirements for international travel of their contingent workforces.
- Initiated International Division’s first succession planning efforts, focusing on Top 100 international executives, to include leadership development initiatives. In 2007, Kelly realigned its’ business globally into three geographic regions, the Americas, APAC, and EMEA. As a result of this restructuring, each region was provided its’ own corporate-level staff, seated locally. My role was replaced with 7.5FTEs based in London and Singapore, reporting directly to the CHRO and the regional SVPs.

- SUDDENLY GLOBAL, LLC – Washington, DC, USA 2001 – 2003
Co-launched this niche Human Resources Consultancy focused on the delivery of HR solutions for businesses with sudden off-shore HR issues resulting from mergers, acquisitions, and alliances. Partnered with senior HR consultants in 16 cities around the world to deliver solutions globally. Sample engagements include:
- Delivered solutions to an Atlanta-based, global airline on their global performance management processes.
- Worked with a Boston-based maker of precision surgical instruments to complete their launch into Japan.
- Partnered with a USAID organization to deliver a workshop on Management Development in Cairo for 125 CEOs of select Egyptian enterprises.
- Modified, and delivered, SHRM’s first HR Generalist course in Shenzhen and Shanghai.
- Led a major San Diego-based systems and solutions firm through an upgrade of their expatriate policies.
- BELL CANADA ENTERPRISES – 1999 – 2001
BCE is a $15bn Canadian telecommunications holding company. Teleglobe was a subsidiary of BCE, which during the dot.com era, filed for bankruptcy, then went through liquidation of assets/branding in 4Q01.

Senior Human Resources executive for the US, Latin America, Asia/Pacific and Rest of World geographies for this $1.5bn business unit, reporting to the SVP/CHRO. Directed the generalist and recruiting organizations, which supported 1200+ employees in 40 countries. Managed a team of 26 HR professionals, HR budgets in excess of $4.5 million, and external hiring averaging 500+ people annually worldwide. Partnered with three business unit Presidents and four functional Chief Officers. Member of the CEO’s Global Senior Management Team.
- Successfully designed and implemented full outsourcing of domestic US staffing (RPO), implementing processes and procedures where none had existed. Introduced the use of an ASP to drive requisition and recruitment management.
- Initiated tracking mechanisms and metric analysis on speed of hire, cost per hire, and velocity of growth where no HR metrics had previously been assembled. ● Conducted the first-ever audit of off-shore HR practices, reviewing HR activity in 40 countries. Audit results provided a roadmap for process improvements. ● Incentive Plan performance was rated at 133% for FY99 and 142% for FY00. Selected for BCE Acquisition Key Executive Retention Program.

- VERIZON CORPORATION (formerly GTE) 1995 – 1999 | Verizon is the $64bn telecommunications company that arose from the 2Q00 merger of GTE and Bell Atlantic. The company’s expatriate human capital was valued at approximately $100 million per year; consisting of 350+ short and long term assignees, and a 200+ domestic employee population.
- Director, International Staffing, GTE International Dallas, TX, USA 1998 – 1999 Managed a team of ten HR professionals and a budget in excess of $1.8 million. Led all activities involved in sourcing, recruitment, placement, and repatriation for all expatriates worldwide, the US-based international support organizations, and searches for senior local nationals. Directed all repatriation activities, including personal accountability for repatriation retention rates. Partnered with SVPs of International Operations and International Services.
- For telecoms projects in Mexico and Romania, designed and implemented a recruitment solution which enabled high volume (81 expats in Mexico, 30 expats in Romania), high velocity response to customer staffing requirements. Delivered all hires on or ahead of schedule and maintained a cost per placement of $4227, compared to a GTE domestic hire cost of $4000-4500.
- Executive Incentive Plan performance was rated at 135% in 1998, merit rated at 175%.
- Director, Human Resources, GTE China – Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China 1996 – 1998
- As the senior HR executive in-country, reported to the VP/Country Manager for GTE China, with responsibility for designing, building, staffing and providing direction for the start-up of HR functions for GTE China entities. Participated on business development and due diligence teams in assessing HR issues, developing, recommending and implementing HR structures and solutions, and understanding HR impact on business cases for potential joint venture investment opportunities. Directed creation and implementation of an HR function for Guangzhou Guangtong GTE (a JV with a privatization arm of the People’s Liberation Army) to design, build, and consult on the development and operation of a nationwide paging network, with market presence in 16 cities across China. Built, assembled and directed a JV and Operating Company HR staff of 40+ with an HR budget in excess of $1 million.
- In a twenty-one month period, led HR organization in successfully staffing 16 city businesses, three 7×24 Operator Centers, three regional headquarters, and a national headquarters. Staffing grew from 10 people in one city to over 1400 people in 16 cities in this timeframe. Objective achieved ahead of schedule and within budget.
- Led the creation/development/implementation of the various components of a Human Resources function, which included the following: staffing/recruitment, broadbanding, benefits (medical, pension, etc.), an HRIS solution, a quota-based Sales Incentive Plan, an objective-driven Executive and Management Incentive Plan, and a performance-driven merit increase process and cycle.
- Executive Incentive Plan performance was rated at 122% and 130% for 1996 and 1997 EIP plan years, respectively.
