Measuring Social Progress: The Development of the Social Progress Index for the Provinces of Thailand
By Metawe Thamagasorn, Ph.D., Project Manager at Impact Office, Sasin School of Management Friday May 14, 2021, 12:00 -13:00 pm. Abstract: The Development of the Social Progress Index (SPI) for the Provinces of Thailand is a construction of a subnational social progress index that aims to measure the lived experience of the Thai people in a given province by capturing how well a society provides its people with the things they really care about, including health, safety, shelter, education, rights and freedom. SPI is a tool that aims to aid leaders in their decision making by providing useful information that allows them to better prioritize investments and allocate resources more efficiently. It promotes data-driven and stakeholder engagement approach in setting policies and strategies, thereby fostering transparency and good governance. In this research seminar, the framework and the selected social and environmental outcome indicators along with the preliminary SPI scores for the provinces will be presented, followed by a discussion of how can we advance social progress in Thailand using the SPI framework. Venue: The seminar will be online via Zoom. Please RSVP to receive a Zoom link. For more information please contact Khun Nanthapak Pinyo at 02 218 4036 or researchseminar@sasin.edu.
