Research in Executive Education: How to Develop Your Intelligence – Advances in Managerial Intelligence for Better Decisions
By Patrick M. Georges, MD. Senior Neurosurgeon, Cognitive Sciences, University of Brussels Professor of Management and Decision Sciences, HEC Executive Education and CDI Paris Author, Business Books, Kogan Page, Philadelphia Thursday, February 20, 2025, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Venue: Room 521 at Sasin School of Management or online via Zoom Register here to reserve your seat Abstract: Drawing upon the groundbreaking work of Nobel laureates in behavioral economics, Kahneman and Thaler, we have developed novel models of human intelligence that provide more accurate predictions of human decisions and behaviors. These models have found their most compelling applications in the corporate world, where managerial decisions carry particularly significant consequences. These models have enabled the establishment of principles and processes that empower decision-makers to mitigate management errors and cultivate their intellectual capabilities. This seminar elucidates these mechanisms and provides numerous examples of how managers are leveraging them to enhance their intellectual performance. From an academic perspective, research into novel models of human intelligence, particularly managerial intelligence, advances our understanding of decision-making within organizations and enhances the integration of artificial intelligence. A key finding proposes a model of human information processing consisting of six distinct cognitive systems, whose effectiveness depends on operational conditions and adherence to specific principles. The business implications of this research extend to executive education, where research-backed seminars focus on decision-making and managerial intelligence, and to management consulting through decision-support tools like Management Cockpits. Future projects include a collaboration with Google to develop a more natural interface between artificial intelligence and human intelligence, further bridging the gap between technology and human cognition.   For more information please contact +66-2218-4000 ext. 83893 or researchseminar@sasin.edu.
