Sasin-Fudan Thailand-China Lab is a collaboration between Sasin and the School of Management, Fudan University, where students from both institutions present a business case solution on real work challenges assigned by the business executives.
Students are divided into teams, delving into the different aspects of the business industry and working together to provide solutions to problems, getting direct feedback from the executives of top companies.
They broaden their horizons by visiting companies in China and learning about an industry they are unfamiliar with in automotive, hospitality, food, or technology. Ju-Ling Hsiao (MBA 2022) went to learn about the Electric Vehicle industry in China.
“Aside from learning about the industry, specifically the automotive industry in Thailand, we also get to visit China and then see how the Electric Vehicle (EV) cars have been progressing over there. It’s an eye-opening experience,” said Ju-Ling Hsiao (MBA 2022).
Students also get to work on their communication and presentation skills.
“They come up with a solution, a basket of solutions,” said Thana Siriwallop, Project Director, Sasin Management Consultant, “Last but not least, they need to devise a pleasant way to communicate that solution to the client and ensure that the client understands it and will implement it successfully.”
Genevieve Perron, a student of the School of Management at Fudan University, said that the best part of the Action Learning Lab was being mentored by an experienced consultant and getting the client’s feedback.
Duangkamol Yingyongkitmongkol (MBA 2022) learned presentation skills that she thought were invaluable to her future career. “Every slide and everything we say in the consulting world has to have a meaning and a purpose to it,” she said.
Besides getting feedback and perspectives from their teammates, students get to cultivate cross-cultural friendships and have time for bonding.
“Since we first landed here, we get a very warm welcome from the Sasin team. We have a memorable time working and have a chance to have delicious Thai food,” said Yi Lu, a graduate of the School of Management, at Fudan University.
Zhiyong Yao, Ph.D., Associate Professor at Fudan University School of Management, asserted that the Action Learning Lab has fostered the students’ management skills, leadership, and entrepreneurial abilities to face the challenges of the future.
