Hosted by Sasin School of Management, the AAPBS (Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools) Annual Conference 2020 was held on November 25-26. During the opening session of the two-day conference, Professor Kenji Yokoyama, President of AAPBS, Professor Ian Fenwick, Director of Sasin, and Professor Betty Chung, Executive Director of AAPBS, officially welcomed everyone to the first-ever virtual AAPBS conference. The theme of this year’s conference was “Disruption. Impact. Sustainability.” The conference then started with an insightful keynote presentation that addressed the question, “Has Covid-19 Accelerated or Derailed the Sustainability Agenda?”, by Michael Green, CEO of The Social Progress Imperative (SPI). Then panelists from business schools and the public/private sectors from around the Asia-Pacific region shared their views on sustainability initiatives in the midst of a global pandemic. Duleesha Kulasooriya, Executive Director of Deloitte’s Center for the Edge, Asia Pacific, kicked off day two of the conference with a fascinating keynote presentation on “Re-Imagining Your Future”. Then three distinguished panelists from Thailand, India, and Australia shared their ideas and insights on the importance of “Values, Mindfulness, and Leadership”. The closing session of the conference saw the handover of the AAPBS presidency from Professor Kenji Yokoyama, Executive Dean of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan, to Professor Robin Gauld, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Commerce, and Dean of the Otago Business School in New Zealand.
