Director of Sasin Japan Center Elected as the 12th President of Japan Academy for Asian Market Economies

On July 8, 2023, the Executive Board of the Japan Academy for Asian Market Economies announced the election of Professor Takamasa Fujioka, Director of Sasin Japan Center, Sasin Professor, and Professor of Meiji Business School, as its 12th President. The Japan Academy for Asian Market Economies (JAFAME), established in 1997, is dedicated to conducting historical, theoretical, and empirical research on the Asian market. With a mission to foster collaboration with academic societies and institutions, the academy plays a crucial role in advancing scholarship and contributing to the development of Asian and global economies. Currently comprising 254 members (as of June 30, 2022), JAFAME boasts a diverse community of researchers and practitioners specializing in economics, distribution/marketing research, and business administration. The academy’s efforts have gained recognition over the years, evident from its affiliation with prestigious organizations such as the Science Council of Japan Cooperative Academic Research Group and the Union of National Economic Association in Japan, starting in 2007.
