Sasin 1st school in Southeast Asia to earn Business School Impact System designation

24 Dec 2019
Sasin School of Management (of Chulalongkorn University) was recently awarded the Business School Impact System (BSIS) label from the EFMD Global Network. Sasin is the first business school in Southeast Asia and only the 3rd in all of Asia to earn this designation, after Shanghai’s China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and India’s Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH). The Business School Impact System is the first comprehensive impact assessment tool for business schools. Launched in 2014, the BSIS framework provides 120 indicators to assess a school’s impact on the financial, economic, societal, and image aspects of the local environment. The BSIS process helps a school measure the tangible and intangible benefits that it brings to the local community. “Everyone at Sasin is proud that we’ve been named as a BSIS Impact School,” said Sasin’s Director, Professor Ian Fenwick. “The measure of a good business school, or any learning institution, is the impact it brings to the people and organizations in its community. Going through this process has reinforced for us the importance of what we do on every level – educational, business development, and societal.” Deputy Director of Strategy, Innovation, and Impact, Nick Pisalyaput, noted how this award coincides with Sasin’s purpose: “Sustainability has long been a focus of what we do at Sasin, and our new strategy, to develop sustainability through an entrepreneurial mindset, has been strengthened by this process,” he said. “With this new BSIS designation, we will be re-invigorated to maximize the impact of all of our activities in our efforts to build a better, more sustainable world.” Sasin School of Management was the first business school in Thailand to earn international accreditation – from both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Foundation for Management Development (EQUIS). Sasin has a strong tradition of internationalization, and actively cooperates with many world-renowned institutions to provide students with international platforms for action learning. EFMD Global Network is the leading international network for management development with more than 930 member institutions in 91 countries.
