Sasin MBA alumna represents Thailand as regional finalist at MCAP in Hawaii

Sasin MBA alumna has been selected to represent Thailand in the Mobile Challenge Asia
Pacific (MCAP). The competition was held in Hawaii, USA, and brought together teams from 9
Asian countries to reward promising mobile applications and innovations. The competition is
part of the prestigious Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Ms. Sasivarun Upaiboon, a MBA alumna from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business
Administration, was invited to compete as regional finalist at the Mobile Challenge Asia Pacific (MCAP) held in Hawaii, USA, earlier this month. There she presented a mobile application developed by her startup www.dealsheep.com, a discount coupon code website focused on online-shopping. “Because we are part of a global competition, we knew innovation would be important. So we developed our app in a direction that is truly new to the world.”, said Ms. Upaiboon.

“In contrast to traditional price comparison, the dealsheep.com app does not simply find the price that is best for most people. Instead we focus on finding the best deal for each individual user
based on the privileges they have thanks to their credit cards, bank accounts, or even phone
providers.”

She added that she felt truly honored to participate in an event as far away as Hawaii and
alongside teams from countries like Japan, South Korea, and the United States. “While the
prospect was intimidating at first, I felt that my time at Sasin with its English-language
curriculum and international exposure prepared me well.”
