On January 17, Sasin welcomed the inaugural class of the Sasin Connect+ Executive MBA, an innovative online program that integrates in-person residentials. This diverse cohort, representing eight nationalities, embodies the program’s global and dynamic nature. The program’s launch began with an inspiring address by Sasin’s Director, Dr. Ian Fenwick, followed by engaging workshops. Sasin Visiting Professor Jeffrey Char led a session on “Sustainability and Technology,” while Sasin Professor Drew B. Mallory explored “Dealing with Uncertainty.” These discussions set the stage for the students’ transformative journey ahead. Following an impactful first day, the cohort embarked on a residential in Chiang Rai, focusing on leadership, collaboration, and sustainability. On the second day, students explored sustainable development initiatives at the Doi Tung Development Project and Mae Fah Luang Foundation. They engaged with local leaders, entrepreneurs, and villagers while also visiting the Lichae coffee plantation. The experience provided hands-on insights into “Sustainable Alternative Livelihood Development.” Day three featured an ESG workshop where students worked on sustainable business models, later presenting their proposals to the Mae Fah Luang Foundation. They also immersed themselves in local culture at the Colours of Doi Tung Festival, gaining a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich heritage. The final day of the residential focused on bringing ideas to life. Students collaborated with mentors to advance their group projects for the Doi Tung Development Project. They also participated in THE BOX Workshop, an interactive session designed to spark creative innovation and transformational change. A highlight of the residential was a special session with Kent Wertime, Chief Operating Officer of Ogilvy Worldwide, Global CEO of Ogilvy One, and Co-CEO of Ogilvy APAC. He shared valuable insights on navigating the future of business, offering students a unique opportunity to learn from a global leader. The inaugural class of the Sasin Connect+ Executive MBA has set a high standard for innovation and impact. By combining academic excellence with immersive, real-world experiences, this program is preparing the next generation of leaders to tackle complex challenges in Southeast Asia and beyond.
