Alex Mavro, Chief of Operations of the Sasin Center for Sustainability Management (SCSM), served as contributing editor for the recently published Thailand Sustainable Development Sourcebook (EDM Publishers), an ambitious work on the crucial topic of sustainability and sustainable development in Thailand. The project involved dozens of writers, most of whom are experts in their fields.

As contributing editor, Alex’s role was to help provide a backdrop and context for the effort, to offer technical insights concerning several of the overall chapter topic areas, and to suggest alternative or enhanced perspectives to develop. He offered editorial guidance on another dozen or more chapters and was one of a handful of coaches who helped the book’s editor contend with the unfamiliar landscape that comprises sustainability and sustainable development.

With nearly two decades coaching, speaking, and writing about business responsibility and its contribution to sustainable development here in Thailand, Alex Mavro is one of the most knowledgeable foreign observers of the Kingdom’s growth in this domain. He began practicing in the late 1990’s while running a Bangkok-based courier company, and moved to full-time sharing as an independent consultant in 2004.

When the Sasin Center for Sustainability Management (SCSM) was founded in October 2011, Alex was brought in to help establish a sustainability presence among MBAs while at the same time offering consultation and advisory services to outside agencies – private sector, governmental, and civil society alike. Prior to joining Sasin, he was co-chair of the Net Impact Bangkok Professional Chapter that moved its home to Sasin at the beginning of 2007.
