Solving Social Issues through Business: The 3rd Sasin–JETRO Seminar in Bangkok

On March 19, 2025, Sasin Management Consulting (SMC) co-hosted the third Sasin–JETRO Seminar in collaboration with JETRO Bangkok. The event was supported by the Japan Academy for Asian Market Economies, the Technical Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan), and the Japan Southeast Asia Innovation Platform (JSIP). The seminar, themed “How to Solve Social Issues through Business,” opened with remarks from Mr. Junichiro Kuroda, Director of JETRO Bangkok. Professor Takamasa Fujioka, Advisor to the Sasin Japan Center and Associate Dean of Meiji Professional Graduate School, then presented on industry-government-academia collaboration. This was followed by Professor Junichi Muramatsu, Professor Emeritus at Hiroshima University, who introduced the concept of value co-creation marketing. The discussion continued with Mr. Nakamura, Director of the JAXA Bangkok Office, who showcased how satellite imagery is being used to tackle challenges in Thai agriculture. Mr. Shinji Hayashi, President of Matsunaga (Thailand), provided insights into the current state and challenges of elderly care in Thailand. The seminar attracted around 80 participants, including executives from leading corporations such as Panasonic, Hitachi, and Aisin, as well as entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized enterprises. A lively networking session followed the seminar, extending well beyond its scheduled time as participants exchanged ideas and explored potential collaborations. The seminar highlighted the growing role of cross-sector collaboration in addressing social challenges and set the stage for continued dialogue and partnership in the region.
