On Marh 24, 2022, the first General Meeting of the Sasin Bangkok Venture Club was held at Sasin School of Management. The meeting featured an opening message from Professor Ian Fenwick, Director of Sasin, and a tribute to Surawat “Sam” Promyotin, the Executive Director of Sasin Bangkok Venture Club and the Director of the Sasin Sustainability & Entrepreneurship Center, who passed away earlier this year.
Robert Lomnitz, the current Executive Director of the Sasin Bangkok Venture Club, then gave a “State of the Nation” ecosystem update, which was followed by pitches from three exciting startups looking for investors.
First up was PEEL Lab, a startup that produces plant-based leather that is lighter, more durable, and more sustainable than regular leather. Next up was Fling, a new business that uses drones and proprietary software to revolutionize inventory and stock checking. The final pitch of the evening came from Showcase Thailand, a social reselling platform that aims to help everyone #sellanywhere and #sellanytime.
The Bangkok Venture Club was founded in 2014 as a group of successful investors, executives, and entrepreneurs in Thailand and Southeast Asia, who use their expertise in different domains to identify and support early-stage startups. Sasin School of Management and the Bangkok Venture Club established a partnership in January 2022.
