Sasin organizes monthly and weekly events for students, alumni, faculty and the general public. Our Sustainability & Entrepreneurship Center (SEC) holds a monthly “Sundowners” event with guest speakers from the global startup community. Numerous seminars, workshops, and forums are organized throughout the year, in partnership with regional and local media, Chambers of Commerce, and other public and private sector organizations.
Every year, Sasin students also organize and participate in a number of activities from group dinners and nights out on the town, to outreach programs in the community and organized trips to the surrounding areas, to the legendary Sasin Halloween Party.
With all of the events and activities that go on at Sasin, it’s impossible to get bored! It’s not just the classroom where the action is – we also have an array of diverse extracurricular activities for you.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Sasin students have the benefit of studying in the heart of Southeast Asia, one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions. They enjoy a wide range of learning activities outside the classroom that take advantage of our proximity and access to leading businesses in the region:- Seminars – Sasin regularly holds seminars with industry and media partners on a variety of topics.
- Guest Speakers and Panelists – From both the public and private sectors participate in public seminars that explore current trends and issues related to different business sectors.
- Global Leader Series – Sasin has welcomed a number of prominent global leaders to speak to the Sasin community over the years. These global leaders share their insights and experiences with Sasin students, faculty and alumni.
- Sasin Talks – This engages Sasin alumni in conversations about their professional success. The broadcasts explore strategic issues in a fresh way, bringing Sasin executives and entrepreneurs directly to you to share their business knowledge.
- Guest Lecturers – Most courses include presentations by business leaders, highlighting practical issues and trends that are affecting their fields and industries.
- Sustainability Projects – As part of Sasin’s core curriculum, Sustainability Management II involves a project with a company, organization or community. Working in teams, students have several months to work on a case study, consulting project, business plan for a new venture, or a community project.
- Management Consulting Projects – Sasin offers an elective called Global Management Practicum, which gives students hands-on consulting experience. Over two modules, students get a chance to work on a consulting project from beginning to end.
- Community Outreach – At Sasin, there are many opportunities to be involved in community outreach programs, either school-sponsored programs or through student-driven initiatives.
- Field Trips to Leading Local Businesses – Many professors organize visits to companies, factories, and other venues to explore practical issues and to interact with business leaders and their teams.
- Business Plan Competitions – Sasin students have a great opportunity to learn entrepreneurship by competing in global new venture competitions. By developing a real business plan, and then pitching that new venture idea in competition, students get a first-hand look at what it takes to be an entrepreneur and to secure investments. They answer the hard questions from judges who are actual venture capitalists or experienced business leaders, but they also get immediate and valuable feedback on how to make their business plan more appealing. Sasin teams have had a long tradition of success in global new venture competitions around the world. They compete against and often beat teams from some of the best business schools in the world. If you aspire to be an entrepreneur, this is one of the best experiences that you will have during your time at Sasin!
